Canada eTA Information

Canada introduced the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) in 2015, allowing eligible citizens to visit Canada by completing a simple online form before traveling.

The eTA allows multiple entries for tourism, business, or transit for a maximum stay of 6 months each time.

It is valid for 5 years or until the associated passport expiration date, whichever comes first.

The Canada eTA online application form is straightforward and simple to complete.

Applicants will need to provide personal details, passport information, and contact details. Applicants will also need to answer a few simple questions about their background, including medical history.

Once the eTA is approved, it is electronically linked to the traveler’s passport.

Travelers that wish to travel to Canada for other purposes, such as to study or work should contact the nearest Canada Embassy or Consulate for further information.

Last update: 30/06/2022

Canada has started opening its borders to tourism. If you’re planning a trip to Canada, you can get your eTA anytime since it is valid for 5 years. Travelers who were fully vaccinated at least 15 days before arrival with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine can now enter Canada without restrictions, as can children under the age of 18, if traveling with a vaccinated parent or guardian. Proof of vaccination must be provided via ArriveCan. All passengers must provide their travel details no more than 72 hours prior to arrival via the ArriveCan platform and bring a receipt to present for boarding. Only certain travelers are allowed to enter without proof of vaccination. Travelers aged 12 and over who are not fully vaccinated (and children aged 5-11 traveling without a vaccinated adult) must have a negative COVID-19 molecular test result taken no more than 72 hours before departure of the last direct flight to Canada, or an antigen test taken no more than 1 day before. Alternatively, they can show proof that they tested positive for coronavirus between 10 and 180 days before departure. Passengers could be subject to a COVID-19 test on arrival. Unvaccinated travelers may need to quarantine for 14 days. Check for updates regularly, as requirements may relax even further in the near future as the situation keeps improving.
