European Visa Waiver for Hungary
Due to be implemented from November 2023, the ETIAS for Hungary is an electronic visa waiver which will allow visa-exempt citizens to visit Hungary and Schengen Area countries for short stays.
The ETIAS Visa Waiver for Hungary will be a multiple-entry travel authorization and permit travel to the Schengen Area for purposes for tourism, business, transit, or medical treatment.
It is important to note that ETIAS is not a visa. It will be an entry requirement for those travelers who do not require a Hungary visa to register online with the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS).
The European Parliament has approved the implementation of the ETIAS application for Hungary in order to pre-screen travelers to Europe before they reach Schengen borders and improve safety and security within the zone.
With each entry to the Schengen zone, the European Visa Waiver for Hungary will allow a maximum stay of 90 days within every 180-day period, and will be valid for a total of 3 years from the date of approval.
Visa-exempt foreign citizens for the Schengen Area will be able to complete the simple ETIAS application form for Hungary online in just a few minutes. It is necessary to fill the ETIAS Hungary application form with personal, passport, and travel information, and answer some security and health-related questions in order to receive an approved ETIAS Hungary via email.
Those eligible to apply for the ETIAS to Hungary who wish to visit the Schengen Area for longer consecutive stays should contact a Hungarian Embassy or Consulate for further information.

ETIAS Hungary Requirements
The Hungary ETIAS visa waiver requirements for documents involve the applicant having a passport from an eligible country valid for at least 3 months past the intended date of arrival in Hungary and the Schengen Area.
ETIAS requirements for Hungary state that the applicant must use the same passport to travel to the Schengen Area as that used to complete the ETIAS application, as the ETIAS will be electronically linked to this travel document. Visitors can now enter Hungary if they can prove they are safe to travel. This can be done with an EU Digital COVID Certificate (EUDCC). This must show either a negative PCR test result from the previous 72 hours, a positive PCR test from the last 6 months and recovery certificate (proving immunity), or at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine within the past year. Alternatively, passengers can present an immunity COVID-19 certificate. Passengers arriving from, or who have been in one of the following countries in the last 14 days cannot enter: Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe. This does not apply to nationals or permanent residents of Hungary. Arrivals could be subject to medical screening and may have to quarantine for 10 days.

How Long Can I Stay in Europe with a Hungary ETIAS Visa Waiver ?
As Hungary is part of the EU, citizens of Hungary visa-free countries can currently stay in Europe and the Schengen Area for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa or travel authorization. However, once the ETIAS visa waiver for Hungary becomes mandatory from November 2023, these same citizens will be required to register for an ETIAS before they can travel to any of the Schengen countries.
An approved ETIAS Europe visa waiver for Hungary is a multiple-entry electronic travel authorization (not a visa). Holders of a Hungary visa waiver are able to enter any of the 26 Schengen zone countries for multiple short stays for business, tourism, medical treatment, or transit purposes.
Those who apply for a Europe visa waiver ETIAS are granted a maximum stay of 90 days with each entry to Hungary and the Schengen Area, within every 180-day period. An approved ETIAS Hungary is valid for a total of 3 years from the date of issue.
Those eligible for ETIAS who wish to spend more than 90 consecutive days in Hungary, or travel for purposes such as to work, live, or study, are required to apply for a Hungary Schengen visa from the nearest Hungarian diplomatic mission.
To apply for a Schengen visa for Hungary, it is first necessary to download, print, and complete an application form. Applicants are then required to make a Hungary Schengen visa appointment at a Hungarian consulate.
The applicant must bring the completed Hungary visa application form to the appointment, alongside a passport valid for at least 3 months from the intended date of entry to the Schengen zone. It is also necessary to supply a range of supporting documentation depending on the purpose of the intended stay in Hungary.
An approved Schengen visa for Hungary can be granted as either a multiple, double, or single entry visa. The period of stay allowed with each entry depends on the issuing embassy and the purpose of the trip.
