European Visa Waiver for the Netherlands
The European Visa Waiver for the Netherlands (ETIAS) is an electronic travel authorization, expected to be introduced in November 2023. ETIAS Netherlands will allow eligible citizens to travel to the Netherlands for short stays, and to all Schengen Area countries as well.
ETIAS for the Netherlands is not a visa. It is an online permit that will allow travel to the Schengen Area for purposes of business, tourism, transit or medical treatment.
The ETIAS Visa Waiver for the Netherlands will be a multiple entry travel authorization and is expected to allow a stay of 90 days with each entry to the Netherlands and the Schengen Area. It will be valid for a total of 3 years from the date of approval.
The European Commission is introducing the ETIAS to the Netherlands in order to protect and strengthen European borders by pre-identifying any possible risks or threats associated with visitors traveling to Schengen Area countries.
Eligible citizens will be able to apply through the simple Netherlanders ETIAS visa waiver application online. It will only take a few minutes to complete the ETIAS application form for the Netherlands with personal, passport, and travel information. It is also necessary to answer a few questions related to health and security matters in order to submit the ETIAS Netherlands application and receive an approved visa waiver.
Those eligible to apply for the ETIAS to the Netherlands who wish to travel to the Schengen Area for longer consecutive periods or other purposes should contact the nearest embassy or consulate of the Netherlands for further information.

ETIAS Visa Waiver Requirements for the Netherlands
In order to submit an ETIAS application, it will be necessary to meet the ETIAS Requirements for traveling to the Netherlands, which involve having a passport from an eligible country valid for 3 months from the date of arrival in the Schengen Area.
Applicants are also required to:
- Provide a current email address at which to receive the Netherlands ETIAS and any updates and notifications
- Pay the ETIAS for the Netherlands fee using a valid credit or debit card.
The approved Netherlands ETIAS will be electronically linked to the applicant’s passport. The ETIAS requirements for the Netherlands specify that the holder must use the same passport to enter the Netherlands and the Schengen Area as that used to complete the ETIAS application. Applicants with dual nationality should keep this in mind.
Applicants will be required to submit a new ETIAS for the Netherlands application if the passport changes passport during the validity of the ETIAS.

Passengers arriving from EU and Schengen member states or from the associated microstates of Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City, as well as nationals and residents of these countries, are now permitted to enter the Netherlands. Family members of nationals of these states are also exempted from the ban, as are diplomats, military personnel, students with proof of admission to a course of study, and other exceptional cases. Additionally, passengers arriving from the following locations may now visit: Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong, Jordan, South Korea, Kuwait, Macao, Monaco, New Zealand, Qatar, Rwanda, Saba, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, St. Eustatius, Taiwan, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, or Vatican City. Foreign travelers from outside these countries may now enter the Netherlands if they were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days before the trip and have a certificate to prove it. Accepted vaccines are: AstraZeneca, AZD1222 (SK Bioscience Co Ltd.), Covieshield, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm, and Sinovac. Unvaccinated travelers may not enter from countries other than those listed above. Transit through the Netherlands is also limited. Travelers aged 12 and over must test negative before flying to the Netherlands. Accepted tests: LAMP, MPOCT, NAAT, PCR, RT-PCR, or TMA tests taken no more than 48 hours before arrival (from most countries) and rapid antigen tests taken within 24 hours before boarding. EXCEPTIONS: fully vaccinated individuals with a certificate; those with a recovery certificate issued between 11 and 180 days before departure when arriving from EU and EFTA nations. The test requirement does not apply to passengers arriving from Bulgaria, Czechia, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Romania, or Slovakia. The testing rules are stricter for those arriving from high-risk countries. Passengers aged 13 and above arriving in the Netherlands must complete a “Health Declaration Form” before boarding a flight to the Netherlands. Arrivals may need to quarantine for a minimum of 10 days, unless they are fully vaccinated.
