Polish ETIAS Visa Waiver
The European Commission is expected to implement the ETIAS for Poland in November 2023. The ETIAS visa waiver for Poland is an electronic travel authorization which will allow eligible citizens to visit Poland and Schengen Area countries for short stays.
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) for Poland is not a visa. Registering with the online system will be an additional entry requirement for travelers who are exempt from needing a Polish visa.
The European visa waiver for Poland is being financed by the European Parliament and the European Commission in order to increase security with the borders of the Schengen Area. ETIAS Poland will help to improve safety within Europe by pre-screening all visa waiver travelers before they reach European borders.
The Polish ETIAS visa waiver will allow multiple entries to the Schengen Area, as it is a multiple entry travel authorization. With each entry, the traveler is permitted a maximum stay of 90 days within a 180-day period. The ETIAS to Poland is valid for a total of 3 years.
It will be possible to submit an ETIAS application for Poland exclusively online, without having to visit an embassy or consulate. Eligible applicants will be able to complete the ETIAS application form for Poland in just a few minutes with personal, passport, and travel information.
Those who submit an ETIAS Poland application form and receive an approved electronic visa waiver via email will be able to visit the Schengen Area for purposes of tourism, transit, business, or medical treatment.

Requirements for the ETIAS to Poland
Applicants must fulfill all of the Poland ETIAS visa waiver requirements in order to submit an application. The document requirements for an ETIAS for Poland involve the applicant having a passport from an ETIAS-eligible country valid for at least 3 months from the intended arrival in Poland and the Schengen Area.
As the approved ETIAS is electronically linked to the passport used to complete the application, it is essential for applicants with dual nationality to ensure they bring the correct passport when traveling to the Schengen Area. If the applicant’s passport expires during the validity of the ETIAS Poland, it will be necessary to submit a new application.

Until 10 January 2022, flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are suspended. Nationals of all EU and EFTA countries and the UK are allowed to travel to Poland. Spouses and children of nationals of these countries are also permitted. Residents of these countries are allowed to return to their country of residence via Poland. Nationals of Belarus (but not foreign residents) are exempt from the travel ban. All passengers arriving from EU/Schengen countries, regardless of nationality and residence, may enter Poland. Nationals and residents of the following third countries may also enter: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the USA. Other exemptions include diplomats, students, and passengers with a Polish Card (Karta Polaka). Unvaccinated arrivals could be subject to a 10-day quarantine. Passengers without a negative COVID-19 test in English or Polish taken at most 24 hours before departure are subject to quarantine for 14 days. Those transiting through Poland must also have a negative test result. This does not apply to passengers arriving from Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, or Switzerland. All passengers must also complete an electronic “Passenger Locator Form” (PLF) online or onboard.

Required Documents to Visit Poland
The documents needed to travel to Poland depend on the nationality of the visitor. As Poland is part of the EU and the Schengen Area, it shares the same visa policy as the other 25 European countries in the Schengen passport-free zone.
At the moment, citizens of countries visa-exempt for the Schengen Area are able to travel to Poland for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa or travel authorization. However, from November 2023 it is expected to become mandatory for these same citizens to pre-register for an ETIAS Poland visa waiver online before traveling to the Schengen zone for short stays.
Those not eligible for ETIAS Poland are required to obtain one of the types of Schengen visa required for Poland before traveling to the country. In order to apply for a Poland Schengen visa, it is necessary to make an appointment at the nearest Polish diplomatic mission.
The applicant must then download and print a Schengen visa for Poland application, then complete and sign the form. It is necessary to indicate the intended purpose of the stay while completing the application form.
It is then necessary to attend the visa appointment with the following Schengen visa documents for Poland:
- The completed Poland Schengen visa application form
- An eligible passport valid for at least 3 months from the intended entry to Poland
- 2 recent photographs, passport-style and taken within the last 3 months
