ETIAS Requirements for Brazilians

Starting November 2023, Brazilian passport holders must register online with the new ETIAS visa waiver system to visit any country in the Schengen Area of Europe. The ETIAS for Brazilians allows multiple trips to over 25 European countries for the next 3 years.

The European Schengen Area is launching a new online travel authorization called ETIAS for Brazilians and citizens of other visa waiver countries. This will come into effect in November 2023. It will be a requirement for Brazilians to visit countries like France, Spain, and Portugal without a visa.

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is designed to improve border security, making traveling to Europe from Brazil safer than ever.

It will be quick and easy to register with the ETIAS for Brazilian citizens. Simply complete a brief online questionnaire and receive confirmation of the travel authorization by email.

All you have to do is meet some basic ETIAS requirements for Brazilian citizens and you will be able to travel to over 25 European countries without needing a visa.

Applying for an ETIAS Visa Waiver from Brazil

Brazilian nationals will be able to get their ETIAS visa waiver in a matter of minutes from the comfort of their own homes. The entire process is done online.

The ETIAS application for Brazilian citizens consists of a short form. You must enter the required information into the relevant fields and pay a small ETIAS processing fee.

You must provide the following information:

  • Basic personal details (name, nationality, date of birth, etc.)
  • Passport information (passport number, expiry date, etc.)
  • Contact details (email address, contact number, etc.)

You must also answer a few short questions relating to travel history and security.

Once this is done, you simply submit the application.

The ETIAS application from Brazil is designed to be fast and streamlined to make things easier and safer for travelers. There is no need to spend time going to an embassy to deal with paperwork in person. The visa waiver is delivered to you by email within a few business days at most.

Countries that Brazilians can enter with an ETIAS Visa Waiver

The ETIAS for Brazilians will be needed to visit the following countries for tourism or business:

  • All 26 members of the Schengen Area (22 EU countries and the 4 EFTA member states)
  • 4 more EU countries that are in the process of joining Schengen
  • 4 European microstates that can only be accessed by land from a Schengen country

This means that it grants entry to the entire European Union except the Republic of Ireland, the whole of the European Free Trade Association, and all of the microstates associated with these regions.

The full list of nations that will accept the ETIAS for Brazilian nationals is as follows:

ETIAS Visa Waiver Requirements for Citizens of Brazil

Brazilians must meet a few simple criteria to complete the ETIAS application and obtain the travel authorization for Europe.

You must have the following items:

  • Biometric Brazilian passport valid for at least 3 months
  • Email address
  • Method of payment (credit/debit card) to cover the processing fee

The Brazilian passport used to register for ETIAS must have a biometric chip and continue to be valid for a minimum of 3 months after arriving in the first Schengen country you visit.

ETIAS passport requirements for Brazilians

You must use the same passport to enter Europe. This is because the travel authorization is registered specifically to this passport and will be read electronically when the document is scanned at border control.

If you use a different passport for the journey, the ETIAS will not be read. In this case, you may not be allowed to board the flight or clear immigration on arrival.

For this reason, Brazilians with multiple nationalities should take care which passport they use to register for ETIAS.

If the registered passport is lost, damaged, or stolen, you must reapply using your new passport.

Do Brazilian Passport Holders Need a Visa for Europe?

Brazilian passport holders do not require a visa to visit any of the countries in the Schengen Area and/or European Union or the associated microstates.

From November 2023, you will need an ETIAS visa waiver for Brazilians to continue to enjoy visa-free travel to these countries (except the Republic of Ireland, which will continue to be visa-free with no extra requirements).

The ETIAS will be simple to obtain by applying online. It allows European authorities to improve border security, making travel safer than ever. It is far quicker and easier to get than a visa.

Brazilians who plan to move to and/or work in a European country will need to apply for the appropriate long-term visa at an embassy or consulate.

European countries outside of the EU and Schengen have separate visa requirements for Brazilians.

Brazilian Citizens Traveling to Europe

Brazilians visiting Europe with the ETIAS will be able to enjoy holidays or business trips to all 26 Schengen nations and more. These include France, Spain, Germany, the Scandinavian countries, and Portugal.

Lisbon is the number 1 destination in the world for Brazilians at the moment. With a shared language and history, the Portuguese capital welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year from Brazil. Portugal as a whole receives over a million Brazilian tourists annually.

Various other locations in Europe rank among the favorite destinations for Brazilians. Paris, Rome, and Madrid all make the top 10 thanks to their famous landmarks, history, and nightlife.

Europe is visited by millions of tourists from Brazil each year. They are drawn to the rich history and culture of these countries, as well as the cuisine and the varied landscapes. From the dramatic fjords of Norway to the Mediterranean beaches of Malta and Greece, the diversity of the Schengen Area can be enjoyed to its fullest with the ETIAS.

Brazilian citizens can stay in the Schengen Area without a visa for up to 90 consecutive days.

Alternatively, they may spend a total of 90 days over multiple trips within any 180-day period (6 months).

This rule will not change with the launch of the ETIAS visa waiver. Brazilians must simply register online to get an electronic travel authorization to clear them for visa-free trips.

Once granted, the ETIAS for Brazilian nationals will be valid for 3 years.
